Liver palms. Liver palms of an alcoholic 59 year- old male. This skin-reddening, or erythema, is indicative of a build up of unmetabolised chemicals in the body. Liver palm (also known as palmar flush) is often caused by liver disease: hepatitis (inflammation of the liver) or cirrhosis (liver damage due to excessive alcohol consumption) are possibilities. Treatment usually involves the use of corticosteroid drugs to reduce the inflammation.
