Robot artist. A robot paints an original artwork composed by a computer. This robot is controlled by AARON - a computer program that uses artifi- cial intelligence to compose its own art. The robot consists of a small arm that moves over an 8x6 foot table, changing brushes and mixing paints as it needs to. AARON runs on a powerful Silicon Graphics workstation computer and takes several hours to create a new picture - usually human figures against a simple background. The robot then takes most of a day to transfer this to paper using delicate techniques befitting a fine artist.
