Acrylamide molecule
Acrylamide, molecular model. Acrylamide, or 2- propenamide, is a chemical used for the production of polyacrylamide. This is a polymer made of repeated units of this monomer molecule. Polyacrylamide gels are widely used as thickeners and as substrates in gel electrophoresis. In this molecule, atoms are represented as balls and are colour coded: carbon (grey), nitrogen (blue), oxygen (red) and hydrogen (white).
