Artificial blood cells,artwork
Artificial blood cells, conceptual computer artwork. Synthetic blood cells, or respirocytes, seen travelling along a blood vessel. The main function of red blood cells (erythrocytes) is to distribute oxygen to body tissues and to carry waste carbon dioxide back to the lungs. Respirocytes hypothetically would have the same function as red blood cells and would be used to treat blood conditions such as sickle cell anaemia, respiratory diseases, foetal asphyxia, and cardiovascular disorders.
