Madagascan lychee market. Workers packing lychees (Litchi sinensis) for export. This edible fruit is popular in dessert dishes. This market is in in north-eastern Madagascar. As of 2010, Madagascar is the third-largest producer of lychees, and the largest exporter to Europe. The fruit is not native to the island, but was introduced in the late 19th century.
