Cathinone drug molecule
Cathinone drug molecule. Computer model showing the structure of a molecule of the monoamine alkaloid drug cathinone (C9H11NO). Cathinone, or benzoylethanamine, is found in the shrub Catha edulis (khat) and is chemically similar to amphetamines. It induces the release of dopamine and is probably the main contributor to the stimulant effect of Catha edulis. Atoms are colour coded: carbon (yellow), hydrogen (white), oxygen (red), and nitrogen (blue).
