Proliferating cell nuclear antigen
Proliferating cell nuclear antigen molecule. Molecular model of human proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA, green), complexed with its loader protein (orange and pink). PCNA is a cofactor for DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) polymerase delta, an enzyme that synthesises the new strand during DNA replication and repair. PCNA acts as a sliding clamp, helping to hold DNA polymerase delta to the DNA strand. The loader protein loads the clamp onto its DNA template strand.
