Purple swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus), 18th-century artwork. Thought to be by a Port Jackson painter, this is drawing 331 from the Watling Collection, which dates from the period 1788 to around 1797. The paintings were made in the area around what is now Sydney, Australia. The collection is held at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
