Einstein ring, Hubble Space Telescope image
Optical infrared image (coloured) of the Einstein ring GAL-CLUS-022058-38303 by the Hubble Space Telescope. This Einstein ring is one of the largest Einstein rings known. It is caused by light from two distant galaxies being diverted and bent by gravitational lensing from a massive elliptical galaxy in front of them and focused into a visible ring-like complex structure.
