European Homo heidelbergensis skull
European Homo heidelbergensis skull found at Arago cave, Tautavel, France. The skull is approximately 450,000 years old. This skull most likely belonged to a young male. The human fossils and artefacts found at the same locality suggest that these people had large brains and the ability to hunt large animals using tools. This is a cast, the original skull is in the Institute of Human Palaeontology, Paris, France.
