O-positive blood, conceptual image. In the ABO blood grouping system, there are four main blood groups: 'A', 'B', 'AB' and 'O'. Blood type O refers to blood that lacks the 'A' antigen and the 'B' antigen, but does have the 'anti-A' and 'anti-B' antibodies. The blood type is further classified according to whether the Rh (rhesus) antigen is present. If it is present, the blood group is positive. If it is absent, the blood group is negative. O-positive blood is blood group O and Rh-positive.
