Volcanic mud pools
Volcanic mud pools. Steam rising from the Qualibu ('place of death') volcano on the Caribbean island of St Lucia. It is also called the \Drive-In\" volcano because it is accessible by road. It is actually the remains of a volcano that collapsed 39,000 years ago, leaving boiling mud pools and a heavy smell of sulphur. St Lucia is part of the Lesser Antilles, which is a group of volcanic islands at the south-eastern edge of the Caribbean Sea. This volcano is near the village of Soufriere. The name 'soufriere' refers to the sulphur fumes produced by volcanic activity."
