Seafood and spices rich chromium
Chromium-rich foods. A selection of seafood, spices and vegetables rich in chromium, believed to be helpful to diabetics. The foods are (clockwise from top left corner): turmeric, broccoli, bitter gourd, prawns, cinnamon, bay leaves, fenugreek and cloves. Diabetes is a potentially fatal metabolic disorder, causing excessive thirst and the production of large quantities of urine. It is caused by a lack of the hormone insulin which is responsible for regulating the amount of sugar in the blood. Chromium-rich foods are believed to stimulate the activity of insulin and help the body process sugar more efficiently.
