Artwork of a globular cluster
Globular cluster. Artwork of a globular cluster of stars. Globular clusters are dense balls of stars hundreds of light years across. They are found in a halo around our galaxy, rather than in the plane of the disc like most stars. They contain stars believed to be almost as old as the universe itself, between 12 and 15 million years. They are thought to be relics from the galaxy's formation.
