Titan spaceship
Titan spaceship. Artwork of a spaceship heading towards Titan (orange, upper left), the largest moon of the ringed gas giant planet Saturn (lower right). Titan is one of the largest moons of the solar system, and the only one with a dense atmosphere (mainly nitrogen). Its rocky surface is hidden by a layer of orange, methane-rich clouds, from which a steady rain of ethane is thought to fall and form liquid seas. Although the surface temperature is low (minus 100 degrees Celsius), complex organic chemistry on Titan may be similar to that on the early Earth. Titan is over 5000 kilometres in diameter and is around 1.2 million kilometres from Saturn.
