Row of assorted historical apple computers
Historical Apple computers. Row of assorted historical Apple personal computers. Apple Computers was founded in 1976 by Steven Jobs and Stephen Wozniak to sell a circuit board which they had designed in Jobs' garage. They decided to start selling computers after their first sales call yielded an order for fifty of the boards. The company was incorporated with a third business partner, Mike Markkula, in January 1977. It has since become one of the world's largest computer companies despite financial difficulties in the 1980s and the departure of Wozniak and Jobs. In the foreground is the Lisa II computer, named after Jobs' daughter.
