Weevil
Weevil (Brachycerus sp.). Weevils are also known as snout beetles due to the large rostrum, snout, that protrudes from their head. On the end of the rostrum is the jaw. Some weevils have adapted to living in hot, arid climates by trapping moisture in their wings. The forewings, or elytra, have a hard exoskeletal covering that protects the trapped moisture from heat and wind. Photographed in Uniondale, South Africa.
