Loki whip goby
Loki whip goby (Bryaninops loki) camouflaged next to a sea whip, a growth that is formed by a colony of coral-like animals. Several goby eggs are seen as the clear spheres attached to the sea whip. This fish rests on such plants to conceal itself from predators. It leaves its shelter only to grab its prey, mainly tiny shrimps and other crustaceans, before darting back to safety. It can reach around two centimetres in length. The eggs will eventually hatch into goby fry (young fish) which will develop into adult fish, although many of the eggs and fry will be eaten by predators. Photographed off Sipadan, Malaysia.
