Burchell's coucal
Burchell's coucal (Centropus burchelli or Centropus superciliosus burchelli). Coucals are non-parasitic members of the cuckoo family (Cuculidae) of birds. Burchell's coucal is a ground-foraging insectivore that clambers around in thick bush. It is a weak flyer and prefers to run from predators. Burchell's coucal may be a subspecies of the white-browed coucal (Centropus superciliosus). Burchell's coucal lives in southern Africa and lacks the white brow. Photographed in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
