Life in Wartime
(May 1943)
This village is literally a mountain village. Old men and women protect the mountains in place of men who have been called to duty. They cultivated land to increase the yield of vegetables, and kept goats to supplement milk for babies. In addition, if a member of the mutual aid association of forestry companies becomes ill, the association pays a percentage of the cost of treatment, and all villagers are healthy.
