Doctorfish
Doctorfish (Acanthurus chirurgus), cleared and stained specimen. Clearing and staining, also known as diaphonization, is a process used to reveal internal structure. The specimen is treated with alizarin dye, which stains the bones red, and alcian dye, which stains the cartilage blue.
