Jeffrey Marcy (2006, 5 years)
Geoffrey Marcy (born 1954), US astronomer, on the roof of Campbell Hall at the University of California, Berkeley, with the dome of a 14-inch telescope. Marcy is one of the world's leading researchers into planets around stars other than our Sun. Together with his team, using data from large telescopes at other sites, he discovered 70 of the first 100 exoplanets identified. Marcy has been Professor of Astronomy at UC Berkeley since 1999. The tower is Sather Tower (built 1914). Photographed in May 2006.
