South Korea - History Textbook Issue
Demonstration by junior high and high school students in Seoul
Protest against the introduction of a state-approved history textbook, Oct 24, 2015 : South Korean middle and high school students attend a protest against South Korean government's plan for state-approved history textbook in Seoul, South Korea. Hundreds of students demonstrated as they insisted that the state-approved history textbook would glorify pro-Japanese collaborators during the Japanese colonial rule (1910-45) in Korea and dictatorial regimes in contemporary history of South Korea. Signs read,"Sovereignty of history does not reside with state!" (L) and "Have you ever read our current history textbook thoroughly We oppose the state-approved history textbook" (R).
