President Obama visits Hiroshima First visit by an incumbent president

People watch a news program showing US President, Barack Obama, speaking at the memorial cenotaph for victims of the atomic bomb victims in Hiroshima on May 27, 2016, Tokyo, Japan. Obama is the first sitting American President to visit the city since the A-bomb was dropped in August 6, 1945. The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner spoke in front of the memorial remembering those who lost their lives as a result of the bomb and all wars. While linking development and progress to a growing capacity for war and destruction, Obama called for the memory of the bomb to help ensure future peace and cooperation. He also called to work for the eradication of nuclear stockpiles in the future, and for a new spirit of cooperation and common humanity across all people's of the world.
