Two researchers on new carbon materials
(Material photo 2009)
Andre Geim (born 1958), Russian born physicist. Professor Geim, seen here holding a model of graphene, is Director of the Centre for Mesoscience and Nanotechnology at Manchester University, UK. His notable achievements include, the development of a material with similar adhesive properties to the feet of gecko lizards, the first magnetic levitation of a live animal (frog), and the discovery of graphene, a single layer of carbon atoms with many potential technology applications.
