Japan's Team Kuroshio announces the team won the runner-up of the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE competition
June 5, 2019, Tokyo, Japan - Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) researcher and Team KUROSHIO leader Takeshi Nakatani announces his team won the runner-up of the Shell Ocen Discovery XPRIZE and get a prize money of 1 million US dollars in Tokyo on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE is an international competition to make a map of seabed depth of 4000 meters using autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and American team GEBCO-NF Alumni won the competition with a prize money 4 million US dollars.
