Transverse waves produced by a droplet of water penetrating the surface of a liquid. The droplet displaces a volume of water, which forms into a miniature crater. The walls of the crater collapse inward, pushing the original droplet back into the air in the form of a column of water. As the column falls back onto itself, droplets break away from the tip.
