In the south, bordering with England, are the lowland hills (yellow/pale brown). The northern extent of this are the estuaries of the Clyde (west) and Forth (east). North of these are the Grampian Mountains (white). This area is separated from the rest of the Highlands by the long fault line of the Great Glen (centre frame). The main island groups off the coast are the Hebrides (west coast), the Orkneys (just off the north coast) and the Shetlands (top right).
