Sahara Desert, Chad, satellite image. This area of the Sahara Desert is a rocky landscape with cliffs (one running down from upper right) amid the arid landscape (orange). Water channels (mostly light blue) carve their way through the desert, forming desert oases. This area is near the Terkezi Oasis, and lies in the north-east of Chad. This image is about 50 kilometres across. Image acquired in visible and infrared wavelengths on 22 October 2000 by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor on NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
