Cell structure. False-colour transmission electron micrograph of a single epithelial cell. The epithelium is the tissue covering the body's external surface & lining most of its hollow structures. Here, the large pale green & red structure in the centre is the nucleus; the round orange objects in the blue cytoplasm surrounding the nucleus are lipid granules, while the elongated orange objects are mitochondria; parallel orange lines in the cytoplasm are either Golgi apparatus or endoplasmic reticulum.
