Forensic evidence. Police evidence bag containing three swab sample containers. The samples have been taken from a motorist by a scene of crime officer (SOCO). Biohazard warning tape has been stuck to the bag. A person found guilty of an offence by the police has to supply a saliva sample. From this a DNA profile can be formed and compared to profiles already held on the National DNA Database (NDNAD). The NDNAD was set up by the Forensic Science Service in 1995.
