Characteristic of this condition are the cancerous Reed-Sternberg cells (at far left for example) which contain two nuclei. In Hodgkin's disease or lymphoma, unchecked cell growth within the germinal centre of the follicle leads to lymph node enlargement, fever and loss of appetite. Treatment is by radiotherapy or anti-cancer drugs. Lymph nodes filter harmful organisms from tissue fluid. Haemotoxylin and Eosin stained cells. Magnification: x200 at 35mm size.
