Hirsutism. Hirsutism (excessive hairiness) on the face of a 38 year old woman. Hirsutism is fairly common, especially in dark haired women after the menopause. It can occur before this as a result of conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome, adrenal hyperplasia or anabolic steroid use. The hair can be removed by electrolysis, waxing or depilatory creams. The hair can also be bleached to reduce its visibility.
