Foetal neck oedema. Gross clinical specimen of a 7-week-old foetus with an abnormally large amount of fluid (oedema) in the tissues of the nape of the neck (nuchal). This disorder is indicative of a foetus with Down's syndrome. A nuchal oedema may also reflect a foetal heart failure, that can lead to the foetus' death.
