Muscular dystrophy. Child sufferers of muscular dystrophy meet in the open air, outside a support centre with their parents, to take part in outdoor activities. This is part of their play group therapy. Specially adapted wheelchairs, into which the body is strapped, provide body support & give each child mobility. Muscular dystrophy is an inherited muscle disorder of unknown cause in which there is slow but progressive degeneration of muscle fibres. Many forms occur and no curative treatment is known. Affected children should keep as active as possible to maintain use of muscles not yet dystrophic. Photographed at 'Association Francais de Myopathie (AFM)' in France.
