. Wart. A doctor examines a wart (also called a verruca) on the sole of an 8 year- old girl's foot. The doctor has a stethoscope around her neck and is wearing medical gloves. Verrucas are harmless, contagious lumps on skin, caused by human papillomavirus infection. Verrucas are usually left to disappear spontaneously, but are sometimes removed by freezing, surgery, or special plasters. MODEL RELEASED
