These contain the pigment haemoglobin which allows them to transport & supply oxygen to the body. The white blood cells seen here are lymphocytes (coloured yellow) which are involved in the body's immune response system. The purple cells seen are also red blood cells. The unusual shape of these crenated red blood cells may be symptomatic of a blood disorder but more normally is a result of prolonged storage of a blood specimen.
