Satellite image showing the effect of the 2018 heatwave on the UK and north western Europe between 28th June 2018 (left) and 25th July 2018 (right). The hot weather and lack of rain has turned lush green vegetation brown and dry. This is part of a larger heatwave affecting most of the northern hemisphere, caused by the jet stream being further north than usual. At right, from top are Denmark, part of Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and part of France. Image obtained by the European Space Agency's Sentinel-3 satellite's ocean and land colour instrument.
