The World's Greatest Man Roar Amundsen (1926)
Airship Norge. The airship Norge, in which the explorers Roald Amundsen and Umberto Nobile in 1926 made the first flight over the North Pole. Norge was built by Nobile, a general in the Italian air force and a professor of aeronautical engineering at Naples. The explorers circled the Pole twice before landing in Alaska. Amundsen was later killed at sea after flying to the Arctic Ocean during a search for Nobile, whose airship Italia had crashed after another trip to the Pole.
