Thorny seahorse (Hippocampus histrix) on a sea fan, or gorgonian. This fish inhabits coral reefs and reed beds in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It feeds on tiny crustaceans, which it sucks in through its tubular mouth. It can reach a length of 12 centimetres. A sea fan is a coral-like colony of filter-feeding organisms. Photographed in the Andaman Sea, Thailand.
