Reconnaissance ride of Count Zeppelin at Schirlenhof, 26 July 1870, (1936). 'Erkundungsritt Des Grafen Zeppelin Bei Schirlenhof, 26 Juli 1870'. German staff officer Ferdinand Adolf Heinrich August Graf von Zeppelin (1838-1917), adjutant of the King of Württemberg, carried out a reconnaissance mission behind enemy lines near Schirlenhof, (Gundershoffen, France), during which he narrowly avoided capture.
