Captain Scott's pocket watch
Pocket watch owned by British naval officer Robert Falcon Scott, found on his body after his failed attempt to return to base camp of the 1910- 1913 Terra Nova Antarctic Expedition. Tragically, Scott and his companions were just 12 miles from a vital supply depot when exhaustion and bad weather forced a halt to their march. Photographed at the British Horological Institute.
