Monahans meteorite
Monahans meteorite. A piece has been removed to reveal the light grey interior. This meteorite fell to Earth in the town of Monahans, Texas, USA, in 1998. The meteorite is classified as an H5 Chondrite. Mineralogical studies of the composition indicate complex sets of processes that occurred on the meteorite's parent-body asteroid. The meteorite is rich in solar-wind gases and studies indicate the presence of water on the parent-body asteroid.
