Sentinel-1B, European radar imaging satellite launched on 25 April 2016. This is the second of two satellites in the Sentinel-1 constellation, part of the European Union's Copernicus programme on Earth observation. The satellite is shown here separating from Fregat upper stage. Sentinel-1B and Sentinel-1A provide radar views of Earth for monitoring of ice in the polar oceans, tracking land subsidence, and many other environmental observation and monitoring purposes.
