Alvocure dry socket dental treatment. This paste-like preparation has a fibrous consistency that makes it easy to apply to a tooth socket following a tooth extraction or following the development of a 'dry socket' (alveolar osteitis). The latter condition is where the bone underlying the extracted tooth becomes inflamed. Alvocure has antimicrobial action due to the presence of iodoform (carbon triiodide). The other active agents are eugenol (an analgesic) and butamben (an anaesthetic).
