For five years now, the former Capernaum Evangelical Church in Hamburg-Horn has been converted into a mosque (photo from December 29, 2017). The work on the Al-Nour mosque was always delayed. In all likelihood, there will be no opening in the first half of 2018 either. We hope to move in in the third or fourth quarter of 2018, says Daniel Abdin, chairman of the Muslim Al Nour community. The 44 meter high tower of the former Evangelical Capernaum Church in the Horn district of Hamburg is currently causing problems. Tower renovations are generally complicated and expensive due to the complex internal and external scaffolding. In the case of the Al-Nour mosque, conditions and coordination with the monument protection make the work more difficult.
