The DMZ on the lunar new year's day in Paju
DMZ on the lunar new year's day, Jan 25, 2020 : Woo Je-Il (86) looks north after a memorial service for ancestors at Imjingak pavilion in Paju, north of Seoul, South Korea on the occasion of Seolnal, the Korean lunar new year day. Woo was born in Yonbaek, North Korea and came to the South during the 1950-53 Korean War but could not visit his hometown again since the war. The Seolnal or Seol is a time for Korean families to remember and honour their dead ancestors and the Imjingak pavilion is the closest residents of the capitalist south can get to the border with the communist north.
