Methionine is a unique amino acid containing sulphur, and one of nine essential amino acids found in food and required for normal development and growth in humans and animals. It is contained in meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products and grains. Methionine is required for both growth and tissue repair, where the sulphur content is involved in numerous detoxifying processes.
