TEPCO Shareholders' Meeting Anti-nuclear power plant demonstration outside the venue
June 28, 2011, Tokyo, Japan - Amid ongoing protest against the operations of nuclear power plants, shareholders make their way to the general meeting of Tokyo Electric Power Co. in Tokyo on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.
It was the first time the operator of the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant faces stockholders since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that caused reactor meltdowns at the ill-fated plant located some 210km northeast of Tokyo. The natural disaster and the nuclear catastrophe not only wiped about $36 billion off its market value but also displaced 50,000 residents because of radiation leaks.
