The mercury hit 32 degrees Celsius as the rainy season for the Kanto region,inclding the Tokyo metropolitan area, officially ended on Saturday. The Meteorological Agency predicts temperatures in the Kanto area will be higher than average in the three-month period from July, and severe late-summer heat will persist to September.
